More information about Rasteau AOC - M. Chapoutier

With the M. Chapoutier Rasteau, a first-class red wine is poured into the tilted glass. It presents a wonderfully dense, ruby red color. Pouring this wine from the Old World into a red wine glass reveals beautifully expressive aromas of quince, blackberry, pear, and blackcurrant, rounded off by other fruity nuances.

On the palate, the Rasteau from M. Chapoutier starts pleasantly dry, full-bodied, and aromatic. There is dry, and then really dry. This red wine belongs to the second group, as it was vinified with only 2.2 g of residual sugar. This velvety red wine appears powerful and complex on the palate. In the finish, this youthful wine from the Rhône valley impresses with considerable length. Once again, hints of quince and blackcurrant emerge. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the soils dominated by clay and limestone are added.

Vinification of M. Chapoutier Rasteau

The basis for the first-class and wonderfully robust Rasteau blend from M. Chapoutier are Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah grapes. In the Rhône Valley, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, limestone, sandstone, loam, and marl. The grapes for this red wine from France are harvested exclusively by hand once optimal ripeness is assured. After the hand harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the press house. Here, they are sorted and gently broken open. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by a few months of aging on fine lees before the wine is finally racked off.

Serving recommendation for M. Chapoutier Rasteau

This French wine is best enjoyed at 15 - 18°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompaniment to braised chicken in red wine, ossobuco, or Thai cucumber salad.
