The elegant Elgin Sauvignon Blanc from Boschendal shines in the glass with a bright light yellow. When swirling the wine glass, one can perceive an excellent balance in this white wine, as it neither appears watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. In the glass, this white wine from Boschendal reveals aromas of Physalis, lemongrass, peaches, starfruit and apricots, complemented by Mediterranean herbs, juniper and green bell pepper. On the palate, the Elgin Sauvignon Blanc from Boschendal opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. The finish of this well age-worthy white wine from the Western Cape winegrowing region finally delights with a beautiful aftertaste.

Vinification of the Boschendal Elgin Sauvignon Blanc

The basis for the balanced Elgin Sauvignon Blanc from the Western Cape is grapes from the Sauvignon Blanc variety. A very strong influence on the ripening of the harvested fruit is also exerted by the fact that the Sauvignon Blanc grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate. This is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. After hand-picking, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. There they are sorted and gently broken up. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Elgin Sauvignon Blanc can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months.

Food recommendation for the Elgin Sauvignon Blanc from Boschendal

This South African white wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompanying wine with omelette with salmon and fennel, fruity endive salad or asparagus salad with quinoa.
