More information about Nicasia Vineyard Malbec - Catena Zapata

The Nicasia Vineyard Malbec from Catena Zapata is an expressive, varietal and excellent red wine from Argentina's Mendoza wine region.

This wine shines in the glass in a bright ruby red with purple highlights. On the nose, this red wine presents a very complex bouquet with aromas of juicy black cherries, ripe plums - perfectly accented by nuances of fresh herbs, tobacco and a hint of minerality. On the palate, this Argentine red wine impresses with a vital fullness of fruit that harmonizes wonderfully with the rich body and powerful tannin structure. The dense texture clings to the powerful body without being obtrusive. With a wonderfully long finish, this wine concludes harmoniously.

Vinification of the Catena Zapata Nicasia Malbec

The Nicasia vineyard is located at 1,180 meters above sea level and was planted with Malbec vines descended from the historic Angelica vineyard. They are rooted and produce an elegant, deep and expressive red wine with extremely low yields. Clearly one of the Malbec highlights of this world! Extremely low yields, the elaborate work in the vineyard, the relentless grape selection guarantee a unique Malbec level.

The grapes are carefully pressed. About 10% of the grapes are not destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation and aging take place in 225-liter French oak barrels and 500-liter French oak casks. To obtain soft, gentle aromas and high tannin extraction, the fermentation temperature is kept low. aged in barrel for 18 months, unfiltered Zapata Nicasia Malbec is then bottled and aged for another 24 months before this wine leaves the winery.
