More information about Orange Gold - Gerard Bertrand
With the Gerard Bertrand Orange Gold, a first-class organic orange wine finds its way into the glass. It presents a wonderfully bright, pale yellow color. After the first swirl, this orange wine displays a superb balance, as it does not appear watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. In the glass, this orange wine from Gerard Bertrand reveals aromas of lemongrass, limes, oranges, grapefruits and pink grapefruit, complemented by dark chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon. This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine in this price range, this French wine, despite all its dryness, enchants with the finest balance. Flavor simply does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the finish, this wine from the Languedoc winegrowing region finally impresses with beautiful length. Nuances of starfruit and kumquat appear again.
Vinification of Orange Gold by Gerard Bertrand
The basis for the balanced Orange Gold from the Languedoc consists of grapes from the Muscat, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mauzac and Viognier varieties. Orange Gold is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this French wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. The ripeness of the grapes for this wine from Muscat, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mauzac and Viognier is influenced to a not insignificant degree by the climate of the growing region. In the Languedoc, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a relatively high must weight. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled.
