More information about Pinotage Bottelary Hills - Neil Ellis

The barrel-aged Pinotage Bottelary Hills from the Coastal Region wine-growing area reveals itself in the glass in a dense purplish red. When the glass is swirled, this red wine displays high viscosity, which shows in pronounced church windows on the rim of the glass. On the nose, this Neil Ellis red wine presents all kinds of plums, black cherries, morello cherries and damsons. As if that were not impressive enough, further aromas such as vanilla, oriental spices and dark chocolate are added thanks to maturation in small wooden barrels.

This South African wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this South African enchants with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine presents itself as wonderfully silky and dense. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the Coastal Region wine-growing area finally impresses with considerable length. Once again, nuances of plum and black cherry appear.

Vinification of the Pinotage Bottelary Hills from Neil Ellis

The powerful Pinotage Bottelary Hills from South Africa is a varietal wine, vinified from the Pinotage grape variety. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months on the fine lees before it is finally drawn off.

Food recommendation for the Pinotage Bottelary Hills from Neil Ellis

Ideally, enjoy this red wine from South Africa, served at 15 - 18°C, as an accompanying wine to boiled veal topside with beans and tomatoes, stuffed bell peppers or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
