The Ruby Port from Niepoort is vinified from Sousão, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and other red Portuguese grape varieties.
In the glass, this port shimmers in a strong dark red. The bouquet reveals fresh, fruity aromas – ranging from blackberry and blackcurrant to cherry, complemented by a subtle mineral hint. On the palate this port offers a fine balance, a very pleasant body and good extract.
Vinification of Niepoort Ruby Port
The hand-picked grapes from the Cima Corgo region are trodden and fermented in traditional lagares. Afterwards, this port matures for an average of three years in old wooden vats in Niepoort’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia before being bottled.
