More information about Saint-Émilion AOP 1er Grand Cru Classé B - Château Canon

The powerful Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B from Château Canon shines into the glass with a dense purple-red color. If you give it some air by swirling it in the wine glass, this red wine reveals high viscosity, which shows in pronounced church windows on the rim of the glass. The nose of this red wine from Bordeaux enchants with nuances of plum, violet and rose. Following its aromatic profile further, notes of licorice and black cherry emerge.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As one would expect from an icon wine segment, this French wine, despite its dryness, naturally captivates with the finest balance. Excellent flavor simply does not necessarily require residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine presents itself as wonderfully velvety. The finish of this youthful red wine from the Bordeaux wine region, more precisely from Saint-Emilion, ultimately convinces with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral notes from the clay- and limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B from Château Canon

The basis for the powerful Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B from Bordeaux is grapes of the Cabernet Franc and Merlot varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Bordeaux. Here the vines drive their roots deep into soils of limestone and clay. Naturally, the Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B is also shaped by the climate and viticultural style of Saint-Emilion. This French wine can, in the best sense of the word, be described as an Old World wine that presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive manner. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of strenuous and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the powerful Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B is matured for several months in oak barriques.
