More information about Sandstone Shiraz - Casa Ermelinda

The Sandstone Shiraz from Casa Ermelinda from the Península de Setúbal reveals a dense, purple-red color in the wine glass. The first nose of the Sandstone Shiraz presents notes of blackberry, sour cherry, blueberry and currant. The fruity nuances of the bouquet are joined by barrel-aging notes such as additional fruity-balsamic nuances.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and thus this Portuguese wine enchants, despite all its dryness, with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily require sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine presents itself as wonderfully velvety. The finish of this red wine from the Península de Setúbal region ultimately captivates with a lovely aftertaste.

Vinification of the Sandstone Shiraz from Casa Ermelinda

The basis for the powerful Sandstone Shiraz from Portugal is grapes from the Shiraz variety. After the grape harvest, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden casks and stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by 4 months of maturation in French oak barrels.
