More information about 1685 Shiraz - Boschendal
The powerful 1685 Shiraz from Boschendal glides into the glass with a dense purple color. After the initial swirl, this red wine reveals high density and richness, which is evident in church windows at the rim of the glass. To the nose, this Boschendal red wine reveals all manner of mulberries, black currants, blueberries, blackberries and morello cherries. As if that wasn't already impressive, cigar box, oak and toasted barrique join the mix due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
The Boschendal 1685 Shiraz presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine connoisseur. This red wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine premium and site wine segment. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the 1685 Shiraz flatters with a soft mouthfeel without lacking freshness. In the finish, this youthful red wine from the Coastal Region wine-growing region finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of black currant and plum.
Vinification of the Boschendal 1685 Shiraz
This powerful red wine from South Africa is vinified from the Shiraz grape variety. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the 1685 Shiraz is allowed to further harmonize on the fine lees for 14 months....
