More information about L'Artisan Chardonnay - Domaine Paul Mas

The L'Artisan wines from the house of Paul Mas are, so to speak, “craft wines”, assembled from the best vineyards of the estate. Only the finest Chardonnay grapes are selected and blended into a single-varietal cuvée. Traditional viticultural techniques and modern vinification methods come together here under the aegis of Jean-Claude Mas to create wines that are both harmonious and expressive, and which make excellent companions to food. The moped on the bottle neck is modeled on the moped owned by Jean-Claude’s mother, with which he explored the vineyards as a young man and developed the idea for his L'Artisan wines.

The barrel-aged L'Artisan Chardonnay from the Languedoc wine-growing region appears in the glass in a bright golden yellow. The first nose of the L'Artisan Chardonnay reveals expressive exotic notes of pineapple and mango. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by vanilla and roasted notes from barrel aging, as well as additional fruity-balsamic nuances.

On the palate, L'Artisan Chardonnay from Domaine Paul Mas starts off wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and well-balanced. There is dry and then there is really dry. This white wine belongs to the latter group, as it was bottled with only 1.8 g of residual sugar. This light white wine presents itself on the palate as balanced and multi-layered. The acidity of the L'Artisan Chardonnay is strikingly rounded, making this wine wonderfully smooth. The finish of this youthful white wine from the Languedoc wine-growing region is ultimately impressive with a good aftertaste.

Vinification of Domaine Paul Mas L'Artisan Chardonnay

This white wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Chardonnay. For this exceptionally well-balanced varietal wine from Domaine Paul Mas, only the best harvested grapes were used. After machine harvesting at night – in order to preserve maximum fruit and freshness in the grapes – they are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, L'Artisan Chardonnay can further harmonize on the fine lees for 4 months.

Food recommendation for Domaine Paul Mas Artisan Chardonnay

This white wine from France is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables, omelette with salmon and fennel, or spaghetti with yoghurt-mint pesto.
