Aszu 5 Puttonyos 0,5 l - Tokaj Oremus

The Aszu 5 Puttonyos, matured in barrels and hailing from the wine-growing region of Tokaj Hegyalja, reveals itself in the glass with a bright light yellow hue. When swirling the wine glass, this white wine displays an excellent balance, as it does not appear watery, nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. The initial nose of the Aszu 5 Puttonyos reveals notes of dried apricot and orange. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by barrel-aged notes, adding further fruity-balsamic nuances.

The Aszu 5 Puttonyos can rightly be described as exceptionally fruit-driven and velvety, as it has been vinified with a wonderfully sweet flavor profile. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced Tokaji is wonderfully dense. Thanks to its lively acidity, the Aszu 5 Puttonyos appears exceptionally fresh and vibrant on the palate. On the finish, this very age-worthy wine from the Tokaj Hegyalja region ultimately delights with exceptional length. Once again, hints of dried apricot and orange appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the volcanic rock-dominated soils also join in.

Vinification of the Aszu 5 Puttonyos by Tokaj Oremus

The foundation for the balanced Aszu 5 Puttonyos from Tokaj Hegyalja is grapes from the varieties Sárgamuskotály, Furmint, Hárslevelü and Zéta. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Tokaj Hegyalja. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into soils of volcanic rock. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Aszu 5 Puttonyos are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse, less selective mechanical harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There, they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures follows. After fermentation has finished, the elegant Aszu 5 Puttonyos is aged for a further 24 months in Hungarian oak barrels. The barrel maturation is followed by extensive bottle aging, which makes this Tokaji even more complex.

Enjoy this Tokaji from Hungary ideally moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C as an accompaniment to cabbage roulades, leek tortilla or pasta with fried sausage dumplings.
