Biorebe - where it says organic, there is organic in it
Under the name Biorebe, the Peter Mertes Weinkeller sells wines from organic cultivation. In the spirit of conserving resources and promoting biodiversity, superb wines with the green seal are produced here. The Peter Mertes Winery itself was founded in 1924 and today has more than 400 employees.
The wines of Biorebe
10 wines are currently offered under the brand name. Among them are white, rosé and red wines, so there is something for every taste. The following grape varieties are used for the wines of Biorebe:
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Chardonnay
- Dornfelder
- Merlot
- Pinot Grigio
- Riesling
- Sangiovese
- Silvaner
- Tempranillo

Three countries for the organic vine
The wines come from different countries, 3 to be exact:
- Germany
- Italy
- Spain
In fact, the country of origin can already be relatively well assigned through the grape variety, so the Riesling country of Germany is responsible for the origin of this varietal wine. Silvaner and Dornfelder also come from Germany. If one slides over to the Italian realms, one gets for example the Merlot, Pinot Grigio or Cabernet Sauvignon. A speciality is the rosé from Sangiovese, the Chianti grape variety. From Spain, of course, must be the Tempranillo, joined by the Sauvignon Blanc. The range of tastes is also covered by dry and semi-dry wines, while the rosé is off-dry.

Organic grape - not stopping at organic
Organic is one step, but for some wine lovers this does not go far enough. In addition, the Biorebe wines are vegan certified. Some wonder if wine shouldn't be vegan by nature? After all, wine is a plant.
In fact, however, various animal adjuvants are used in wine production; for example, animal protein or gelatin is used to clarify wines. Recently, however, unclarified wines are becoming more and more popular on the market, so this use is not necessary. If the wine has not come into contact with any animal substances in the course of production, it may bear the Vegan seal. Almost all of the Biorebe wines are certified vegan.
