More information about Brut Grande Réserve - Dourdon Vieillard
With the Dourdon Vieillard Brut Grande Réserve, a first-class Champagne comes into the wine glass. It displays a wonderfully bright, light red color. The mousse of this Champagne sparkles in the glass with an extremely fine, elegant and persistent effervescence. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, you can perceive a perfect balance in this sparkling wine, as it does not appear watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. The bouquet of this sparkling wine from Champagne captivates with notes of pear, orange and lemon. If we follow the aromas further, lime and almond appear.
On the palate, this well-balanced sparkling wine is characterized by an extremely crisp, light and creamy texture. On the finish, this sparkling wine from the Champagne wine-growing region finally delights with a beautiful length. Once again, nuances of orange and lemon appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone- and clay-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of Dourdon Vieillard Brut Grande Réserve
The balanced Brut Grande Réserve from France is a cuvée vinified from the grape varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. In Champagne, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay and limestone soils. Quite clearly, the Brut Grande Réserve is defined by more than just the Champagne terroir. This French wine can literally be described as an Old World wine, which presents itself as exceptionally distinguished and complex. An undeniable influence on the ripening of the grapes is also the fact that the Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate. This is expressed, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripening grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are sorted and gently pressed. This is followed by the fermentation of the base wines. After the cuvée is assembled, further maturation follows based on the Méthode Traditionelle. The Dourdon Vieillard Brut Grande Réserve then ages for 6 months in the bottle.
