More information about Chip Dry - Taylor's Port

When swirling the wine glass, this fortified wine reveals a high density and richness, which is evident in the pronounced "church window" effect at the rim of the glass. The nose unveils a variety of dried fruits, apricots, vineyard peaches, dried plums, and Mirabelles in this Taylor's Port Fortified Wine. As if that weren't already impressive, additional notes of roasted almonds, croquant, and walnuts emerge from its maturation in large wooden casks.

On the palate, the Taylor's Port Chip Dry reveals an incredibly fruity flavor, which is of course partly due to its residual sweetness profile. This powerful port wine is characterized by an incredibly silky and crisp texture on the tongue. Thanks to its vibrant fruit acidity, the Chip Dry impressively tastes fresh and lively. The finish delights with considerable length, again reminiscent of nectarines and dried fruits. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the slate- and granite-dominated soils add further depth.

Vinification of Taylor's Port Chip Dry

The base for the vigorous Chip Dry from Douro & Porto consists of grapes from the varieties Gouveio, Malvasia Fina, Rabigato, and Viosinho. In Douro & Porto, these vines grow on soils of slate and granite. The Chip Dry is a thoroughly Old World wine, exuding an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Chip Dry are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse, less selective harvesters.

Food pairing recommendations for Taylor's Port Chip Dry

This Portuguese wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8-10°C. It pairs perfectly with wok vegetables with fish, coconut-lime fish curry, or a fruity endive salad.
