More information about Chardonnay unwooded - De Wetshof Estate

With the De Wetshof Estate Chardonnay unwooded comes a first-class white wine in the glass. Here it offers a wonderfully bright, golden yellow color. Poured into a white wine glass, this white wine from South Africa reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of grapefruit, lemongrass, pink grapefruit and grapefruit, rounded off by cream candy, yeast plait and walnut.

The De Wetshof Estate Chardonnay unwooded presents itself pleasantly dry to the wine drinker. This white wine never appears coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine in the upper price range. Due to its present fruit acidity, the Chardonnay unwooded is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this youthful white wine from the Breede River Valley winegrowing region finally delights with good length. Again, hints of pomelo and lemongrass appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by clay and limestone join in.

Vinification of the Chardonnay unwooded from De Wetshof Estate

This balanced white wine from South Africa is vinified from the Chardonnay grape variety. In the Breede River Valley, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and limestone. After the hand harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for the De Wetshof Estate Chardonnay unwooded

Enjoy this white wine from South Africa ideally well chilled at 8 - 10°C as a companion to spaghetti with yogurt-mint pesto, coconut-lime fish curry or fruity endive salad.
