The Lesca Chardonnay of De Wetshof Estate from the Breede River Valley offers a bright, golden yellow color in the wine glass. Poured into a white wine glass, this white wine from South Africa shows wonderfully expressive aromas of mirabelle plum, grapefruit, vineyard peach and pink grapefruit, rounded off by toasted barrique, whole-nut chocolate and walnut contributed by the barrel aging.

On the palate, De Wetshof Estate's Lesca Chardonnay opens delightfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. On the tongue, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp and light texture. The finale of this well-maturing white wine from the Breede River Valley wine-growing region, more precisely from Robertson, finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by limestone and clay.

Vinification of the Lesca Chardonnay from De Wetshof Estate

The basis for the balanced Lesca Chardonnay from Breede River Valley are grapes from the Chardonnay grape variety. In the Breede River Valley, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and limestone. After the grapes are harvested, they are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.
