More information about Germany’s best Pinot Noir – 6-bottle varietal package

This carefully assembled 6-variety package is dedicated entirely to Spätburgunder, probably Germany’s most important red grape variety. It includes six characterful wines from different German wine-growing regions, which impressively demonstrate how versatile, elegant and terroir-driven German Spätburgunder can be. All wines come from renowned wineries and are offered in the classic 0.75 l bottle.

The Spätburgunder grape variety in Germany

Spätburgunder, known internationally as Pinot Noir, is considered the noblest red grape variety in Germany. No other red grape holds a comparable position in this country. Today, Germany is one of the most important Spätburgunder-producing countries worldwide – thanks in particular to its cool climate, diverse soils and a steadily increasing focus on quality in viticulture.

German Spätburgunder stands for finesse, elegance and purity. Typical are delicate fruit aromas of cherry, raspberry or red currant, complemented by earthy, spicy and sometimes slightly smoky notes. Depending on origin and vinification, the wines range from juicy and fruit-driven to complex and profound.

Country of origin Germany – diversity and terroir

Germany offers ideal conditions for Spätburgunder: calcareous soils, loess, gneiss or slate as well as moderate temperatures ensure slow ripening and pronounced aromatics. Regions such as Baden, Rheinhessen, Pfalz and Württemberg enjoy high international renown. This package brings together different stylistic approaches and winemakers’ signatures, making regional diversity directly tangible.

The wines in the package

Spätburgunder feinherb – Bretz

A harmonious and approachable Spätburgunder with a delicate residual sweetness. Juicy red berries, ripe cherries and gentle spice shape the aroma profile. Soft, rounded and balanced on the palate – ideal for those who appreciate fruit and elegance.

Spätburgunder Markgräflerland dry – Weingut Zotz

This wine is exemplary of the Spätburgunder tradition of southern Baden. Clearly structured, with fine acidity and elegant red-berry fruit. Subtle earthy and spicy nuances add depth and length.

Spätburgunder dry – Weingut Manz

A modern, precise Spätburgunder with clear fruit and lively freshness. Aromas of cherry and raspberry meet a fine minerality. Slim, straightforward and very well balanced on the palate.

Toreye Spätburgunder – Weingut Eymann

A characterful Spätburgunder with a bit more structure and expression. Darker berries, subtle roasted notes and elegant spice combine to create a multi-layered whole. Harmonious, persistent and sophisticated.

Spätburgunder dry – Weingut Meßmer

Typical Pfalz: fruit-driven, open and charming. Juicy red fruits, fine herbal notes and a smooth flow on the palate make this Spätburgunder particularly accessible and versatile.

Spätburgunder Löss & Gneiss dry – Wild Schwarzwaldbrennerei & Weingut

A terroir-driven Spätburgunder that reflects soil diversity. Fine minerality, cool fruit and subtle spice define the style. Elegant, precise and with a clear signature – a wine for lovers of delicate Pinot Noir styles.

This varietal package is an invitation to discover the top grape variety Spätburgunder in its German diversity. From delicately fruity and approachable to structured and terroir-focused, the package offers a comprehensive overview of style, origin and quality. Ideal for explorers, Pinot Noir enthusiasts and anyone who wants to experience German red wine in a new way.
