More information about Espiga Reserva - Casa Santos Lima

The Espiga Reserva from the Estremadura wine-growing region reveals itself in the glass in a bright purple red. With a little time in the glass, this red wine from Portugal reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of blackberry, rounded off by further fruity nuances.

On the palate, the Espiga Reserva from Casa Santos Lima starts off wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Despite its dry taste, this red wine delights with juicy mellowness and elegantly integrated residual sweetness. Thanks to its pronounced fruit acidity, the Espiga Reserva presents itself on the palate as impressively fresh and lively. The finish of this red wine from the Estremadura wine-growing region, which has good ageing potential, is ultimately captivating with a lovely aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints from the clay- and limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of Casa Santos Lima Espiga Reserva

The basis for the balanced Espiga Reserva from Portugal is grapes from the Castelão, Syrah, Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Estremadura. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into limestone and clay soils. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery. There they are selected and gently broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
