More information about La Fé AOP - Domaine Berthoumieu
With Domaine Berthoumieu La Fé, a first-class red wine finds its way into the crystal-clear glass. It offers a wonderfully dense, purple-red color. On the nose, this Domaine Berthoumieu red wine presents all kinds of blackberries. As if that were not already impressive, the maturation in small wooden barrels also adds caramel and licorice.
Domaine Berthoumieu La Fé presents itself to the wine lover pleasantly dry. This red wine never appears coarse or lean, but rather round and smooth. Powerful and complex, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. Thanks to its lively acidity, La Fé reveals itself on the palate as wonderfully fresh and vibrant. On the finish, this well-ageable wine from the Sud-Ouest wine-growing region finally delights with a beautiful length. Hints of blackberry appear once again. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the soils dominated by gravel and limestone join in.
Vinification of Domaine Berthoumieu La Fé
The basis for the powerful La Fé from France is grapes of the Tannat variety. The grapes grow near the sea in Sud Ouest. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into soils of limestone and gravel. Due to the moderating influence of the nearby sea, the wine berries ripen more slowly and develop greater aromatic complexity. After the grape harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in concrete and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by 18 months of aging in French oak barrels. The barrel aging is followed by a long bottle aging, which makes this red wine even more complex.
