Vinification of Gerard Bertrand La Sauvageonne Grand Vin
This powerful white wine from France is made from the grape varieties Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Viognier. The La Sauvageonne Grand Vin is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. The ripeness of the harvested grapes for this wine from Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Viognier is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Languedoc, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a relatively high must weight. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the press house immediately. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation has ended, the La Sauvageonne Grand Vin is matured for a few more months in French oak barrels.
