More information about Cigalus Blanc - Gerard Bertrand

Cigalus Blanc, created by Gérard Bertrand in Languedoc, reveals a dense, light yellow color in the wine glass. Swirling the glass, this white wine shows great density and richness, visible in the church windows on the rim. The first nose of Cigalus Blanc reveals mango, starfruit, and papaya. The fruity hints of the bouquet are joined by notes from barrel aging such as cream toffee, brioche, and sun-warmed stone.

Gérard Bertrand Cigalus Blanc presents itself wonderfully dry to the wine drinker. This white wine never appears coarse or austere, but rather round and smooth. The finish of this youthful white wine from the Languedoc wine-growing region ultimately delights with a beautiful aftertaste.

Vinification of Cigalus Blanc by Gérard Bertrand

The powerful Cigalus Blanc from France is a cuvée, organically vinified from the Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier grape varieties. Cigalus Blanc is an Old World wine in the best sense of the term, as this French wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripening of the grapes for this wine made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier is significantly influenced by the climate of the growing region. In Languedoc, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened fruit and a relatively high must weight. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, Cigalus Blanc is matured for several months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for Gérard Bertrand Cigalus Blanc

This French wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11–13°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompanying wine with spaghetti with yogurt-mint pesto, coconut-lime fish curry, or omelet with salmon and fennel.
