The multi-award winning Lady May from the Coastal winegrowing region shows in the glass in dense purple red. At the edge, this South African red also shows a transition into garnet red. After the initial swirl, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in distinct church windows at the rim of the glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from South Africa offers wonderfully complex aromas of morello cherry, black cherry, plum and mulberry, rounded out by vanilla, black tea and cinnamon contributed by aging in wooden barrels.

This dry red wine from Glenelly Estate is just right for wine connoisseurs who prefer to drink bone dry. The Lady May already comes very close to this, it was pressed with just 2.6 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky. Due to its concise fruit acidity, the Lady May is fantastically fresh and lively on the palate. The final of this red wine from the wine-growing region Coastal Region, more precisely from Stellenbosch (ZA), finally thrilled with considerable reverberation.

Vinification of the Glenelly Estate Lady May

The powerful Lady May from South Africa is a cuvée, vinified from the grape varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Lady May is aged for another 24 months in French oak barriques.
