More information about Director's Reserve Red - Tokara
The Directors Reserve Red from Tokara is an expressive red wine cuvée from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (67%), Merlot (16%), Petit Verdot (7%), Malbec (5%) and Cabernet Franc (5%).
In the glass, this South African red wine shows a deep dark ruby red. Intense notes of ripe cassis, fruit bread and fresh mint unfold on the nose. The personality is wonderfully lush and rich with subtle black currant flavors - underpinned by cedar, subtle spice and mint. The tannins are wonderfully soft as well as silky, leading into a long lasting finish.
Vinification of the Tokara Directors Reserve Red
After the hand harvest of the ripe grapes, they are immediately brought to the winery. The alcoholic fermentation of this wine takes place in open and closed fermentation racks. During this process, the mash is regularly submerged and pumped over. For silky character, this wine is aged in French barriques for 22 months (80% new and 20% used wooden barrels).
