The Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon from Rupert & Rothschild is a wonderful, smooth and harmonious red wine cuvée from the South African wine-growing region of Western Cape. 

This wine enters the glass with a bright ruby red color and indulges with fresh raspberry aromas, notes of plum blossoms and ripe figs, as well as undertones of cassis. On the palate, this classic red wine cuvée from Rupert & Rothschild is elegant with fine-grained tannins, a firm body as well as melting, extract and power. This red wine provides expressive drinking pleasure at a high level even when young.

This cuvée is considered a classic South African red wine and exemplarily combines the elegant style of a Bordeaux with the aromatic richness and power of a Cape red wine.

Vinification of the Rupert & Rothschild Merlot Cabernet

This red wine from South Africa is a classic blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This cuvée is the result of a consistent selection of the best grapes from the best vineyards. After harvesting by hand, the alcoholic fermentation thus also the malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Then this red wine is aged for 16 months in used French barriques (volume 225 liters).
