The Montes Alpha Merlot from Montes in the Valle Central offers a dense, purple-red color in the wine glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from Chile presents wonderfully fragrant aromas of violets, plum, morello cherry and mulberry, rounded off by cocoa bean, gingerbread spice and toasted barrique contributed by the barrel aging.

This Chilean wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine in the high-quality segment, this Chilean, for all its dryness, captivates with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require sugar. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an immensely dense and velvety texture. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Valle Central wine-growing region finally impresses with considerable length. Once again, nuances of morello cherry and plum appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the sand-dominated soils are also added.

Vinification of the Montes Alpha Merlot from Montes

The powerful Montes Alpha Merlot from Chile is a cuvée vinified from the grape varieties Carmenère and Merlot. In the Valle Central, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on sandy soils. The grapes for this red wine from Chile are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by maturation for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

Ideally, enjoy this red wine from Chile at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompanying wine to goose breast with ginger red cabbage and marjoram, spinach gratin with almonds or cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables.
