More information about Mountain Blanco Málaga D.O. - Molino Real

Mountain Blanco Málaga D.O. - Molino Real is an exceptional dry white wine from the highest sites of the Axarquía in Málaga. On steep, barren slate slopes around Cómpeta and Archez, old, gnarled Muscat d’Alexandrie vines grow, in part still between olive trees. From these surviving mountain vineyards emerges a handcrafted white wine of remarkable individuality, depth, and precision of origin.

In the glass, Mountain Blanco shows a pale golden hue with clear reflections. The nose is intense, Mediterranean, and multi-layered: ripe Galia melon, juicy nectarine, and yellow stone fruit combine with fine honey, fresh hay, muscat spice, and delicate floral nuances. Despite its aromatic richness, the bouquet remains clear, precise, and elegant.

On the palate, this Andalusian white wine is dense, creamy, and at the same time surprisingly fresh. The ripe fruit of Muscat d’Alexandrie meets vibrant acidity, fine spice, and a mineral tension shaped by the shallow, stony slate soils. The mouthfeel is silky and full without seeming heavy. Nectarine, melon, muscat, herbal spice, and a hint of blossom honey carry the long, harmonious finish.

Its special origin makes Mountain Blanco so distinctive: the vines stand in very steep vineyards, predominantly south- and west-facing, at altitudes from 550 up to 1000 metres. During the day, the intense Andalusian sun ensures aromatic ripeness, while the higher elevation preserves freshness and balance. This interplay of warmth, ripeness, freshness, and sparse minerality impressively shapes the character of this wine.

The production also underscores the traditional ambition. The grapes are harvested by hand and come from a mosaic of small micro-plots. They are then pressed in an especially original way in oil presses with mats made of esparto grass. After vinification, the wine is bottle-aged for up to twelve months, further refining its creamy texture, complexity, and length.

Production of Mountain Blanco Málaga D.O. - Molino Real

The grapes for Mountain Blanco come from the high-lying mountain sites of the Axarquía, a traditional wine region in the south of Spain. The old bush vines are rooted in poor, stony slate soils that allow only small yields but produce particularly concentrated and expressive grapes. Many of these vineyards seem like relics of an ancient winegrowing culture and are among the most characterful sites in the region.

Harvesting is done by hand so that only sound and aromatically ripe grapes are processed. A special feature is the traditional pressing: the grapes are pressed in oil presses with mats made of esparto grass. This artisanal method underscores the original character of the wine and preserves the aromatic power of the Muscat grape.

After processing, the wine matures for up to twelve months in the bottle. This resting period lends it additional harmony, a smooth texture, and a long, finely spicy finish. The result is a dry white wine with Mediterranean richness, precise freshness, and a distinctive mineral signature.

Serving recommendations for Mountain Blanco Málaga D.O. - Molino Real

Mountain Blanco is a versatile partner for aromatic, delicately seasoned, and creamy dishes. Its combination of ripe fruit, muscat spice, mineral tension, and creamy mouthfeel makes it particularly exciting with Mediterranean, oriental, and refined cuisine.

This white wine pairs especially well with:

  • Poultry, veal, or pork fillet with herbs
  • Creamy sauces, light ragouts, and delicate braised dishes
  • Moroccan tajine with apricots, almonds, or nectarines
  • Oriental or Asian-seasoned dishes with sweet-spicy aromatics
  • Goat cheese with honey, nuts, or herbs
  • Creamy soft cheese and mild blue cheese
  • Refined starters with stone fruit, fennel, or herbs

Serve Mountain Blanco ideally at 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. Slightly chilled, it shows its freshness and precision; with a bit of air in the glass, notes of muscat, honey, nectarine, herbs, and slate minerality increasingly unfold. A characterful white wine for special moments of enjoyment, tastings, and sophisticated menus.

Thanks to its density, structure, and balance, this wine is suitable both for immediate enjoyment and for medium-term cellaring. Stored in a cool, dark, and low-vibration environment, it can develop additional depth and further refine its spicy, mineral, and ripe fruit nuances.
