More information about Pouilly-Fumé les Chailloux Silex AOC - Domaine Chatelain

The elegant Pouilly-Fumé les Cailloux Silex from Domaine Chatelain shines into the glass with a bright light yellow color. Swiveling the wine glass, one can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, because it does not stand out on the walls of the glass neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. To the nose, this Domaine Chatelain white wine shows all sorts of grapefruit, pink grapefruit, kumquats, lemons and pomelo. As if that wasn't already impressive, the stainless steel aging adds forest floor, cocoa bean and dark chocolate.

The Pouilly-Fumé les Cailloux Silex from Domaine Chatelain is just right for all wine lovers who like as little residual sugar in the wine as possible. However, it never appears sparse or brittle, but round and smooth. On the palate, the texture of this balanced white wine is wonderfully light and velvety. In the finish, this storable white wine from the wine-growing region of the Val de Loire finally inspires with beautiful length. There are again hints of orange and lime. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by limestone and clay are added.

Vinification of the Pouilly-Fumé les Cailloux Silex from Domaine Chatelain

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Sauvignon Blanc. Only the best grape material was used for this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Domaine Chatelain. In the Val de Loire, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and clay. After harvesting, the grapes arrive quickly at the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Things to know about Pouilly-Fumé les Chailloux Silex AOC - Domaine Chatelain

What makes Chianti wines so special?
Chianti wines, produced in the heart of Tuscany, are known for their complex flavor profile dominated by the Sangiovese grape. They offer a range of aromas, from fresh red berries to deep earthy and spicy notes, accompanied by a characteristic acidity and tannin structure. Their diversity makes them excellent food accompaniments and reflects the region's rich winemaking tradition.
Which dishes go best with Chianti wines?
Chianti wines are extremely versatile and go well with a wide range of dishes. Classic pairings include Italian cuisine such as pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, grilled meats and mature cheeses. Their balanced acidity and tannins also make them an excellent accompaniment to fatty dishes and hearty stews.
How long can I store a Chianti wine?
The shelf life of a Chianti wine depends on its type and quality. While a simple Chianti is intended for early consumption and should be drunk within two to four years, high-quality Chianti Classico Riserva wines can age for ten years or more if stored properly, gaining complexity and depth of flavor.
What does "Chianti Classico" mean?
"Chianti Classico" refers to wines that come from the original, historic Chianti growing area between Florence and Siena. This area is known for its strict quality standards. Chianti Classico wines must be made from at least 80% Sangiovese grapes and have a longer maturation period, which gives them greater complexity and depth.
Where can I buy Chianti wines?
Chianti wines are available worldwide from wine shops, specialized online stores such as VINELLO and supermarkets with a well-stocked wine section. For an authentic shopping experience and a wide selection of Chianti wines, you can buy directly from Tuscan wineries or via specialized online wine mail order companies.
