More information about Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg - Domäne Wachau

With the Domäne Wachau Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg comes a first-class white wine into the swirled glass. In this it reveals a wonderfully dense, pale yellow color. After the first swirling, this white wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg reveals nuances of papayas, pineapple and physalis. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as Mediterranean herbs, lovage and forest floor.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the top wine range, this Austrian naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. This melting and dense white wine presents itself on the palate as full-bodied and multifaceted. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of peach and mirabelle plum show through.

Vinification of the Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg from Domäne Wachau

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Riesling. Only the best grape material was used for this exceptionally powerful varietal wine from Domäne Wachau. Clearly, the Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg is also determined by the climate and viticultural style of the Wachau. This Austrian can literally be described as an Old World wine that presents itself as exceptionally complex. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg is aged for several months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg from Domäne Wachau

This Austrian white wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to vegetable stew with pesto, spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce or pumpkin casserole.
