More information about Scheurebe trocken - Schloss Proschwitz

The Scheurebe from the wine-growing region of Saxony presents itself in the glass in brilliantly shimmering light yellow. Swiveling the wine glass, this white wine is characterized by an immense brilliance that makes it dance nimbly in the glass. This single varietal German wine reveals wonderfully expressive notes of acacia, jasmine, gooseberry and orange blossom in the glass. These are joined by hints of garrigue, lovage and Mediterranean herbs.

The Scheurebe from Schloss Proschwitz is just right for all wine lovers who like it dry. However, it never appears sparse or brittle, but round and smooth. On the palate, the texture of this light-footed white wine is wonderfully light and crisp. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Scheurebe appears wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this white wine from the wine-growing region of Saxony, more precisely from Meissen, finally thrills with good reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by loess and granite.

Vinification of the Proschwitz Castle Scheurebe

This elegant white wine from Germany is vinified from the grape variety Scheurebe. In Saxony, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of granite and loess. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Scheurebe are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of the fermentation, the Scheurebe is left to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months.

Food recommendation for the Scheurebe from Schloss Proschwitz

This German wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to wok vegetables with fish, cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables or leek soup.
