More information about Spätburgunder Blauschiefer trocken - Meyer-Näkel

The elegant Pinot Noir Blauschiefer from the house Meyer-Näkel flows into the glass with a bright light red. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls in a watery, syrupy or liqueur-like way. To the nose, this Meyer-Näkel red wine shows all manner of lilies, morello cherries, roses, blackberries and black cherries. As if that wasn't already impressive, bitter chocolate, oriental spices and black tea join in due to the aging in small wooden barrels.

This dry red wine from Meyer-Näkel is perfect for wine lovers who prefer to drink bone dry. The Pinot Noir Blauschiefer already comes very close to this, it was pressed with just 0.2 grams of residual sugar. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to its present fruit acidity, the Pinot Noir Blauschiefer presents itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of the Ahr finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of plum and blackberry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the slate-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of the Meyer-Näkel Pinot Noir Blausschiefer

The balanced Spätburgunder Blauschiefer from Germany is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Spätburgunder grape variety. In the Ahr region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. Moreover, the grapes of this top wine from Meyer-Näkel do not grow in the lowlands, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in less sunny regions with less long growing seasons, the vines catch a maximum of sun. Spätburgunder Blauschiefer is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The fact that the Spätburgunder grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the grapes. This results, among other things, in particularly long and even grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Pinot Noir Blauschiefer are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Pinot Noir Blauschiefer is aged for 10 months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Meyer-Näkel Pinot Noir Blauschiefer

Drink this red wine from Germany best tempered at 15 - 18°C as an accompanying wine to red onion stuffed with couscous and apricots, roasted calf's liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce or duck breast with sugar snap peas.
