The brand yellow tail is an essential part of the success of Casella Family Brands. The wines from yellow tail were received so well that the winery now spans the size of 43 soccer fields. Additionally, the world's fastest wine bottling facility was built here to meet the local demand. Not less than 36,000 bottles of wine are bottled here per hour. Starting with yellow tail wines in 2000, the one billionth bottle of yellow-tail wine was bottled by 2013.
The history of yellow tail
In 1957, Filippo and Maria Casella, whose family has been gaining experience in viticulture since 1820, immigrated from Sicily to Australia. In the small town of Yenda, Filippo Casella purchased a farm with vineyards in 1965. After the first few years in which he sold the grapes from his farm to local wineries, he decided to apply his now deepened knowledge of winemaking himself. Thus, in 1969, the Australian family winery Casella Family Brands was founded. The foundation for a unique success story was laid.
The successful wine company Casella Family Brands also includes, besides yellow tails, its own wine lines Casella 1919 & Limited Release and the renowned Peter Lehmann winery.

Wines from the super zone
The grapes for the yellow-tail wines come from their own vineyards, which are located directly next to the winery. However, since even these local areas are not enough for the enormous demand, grapes from controlled cultivation from the so-called super zone are also used. The super zone includes several states such as Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, as well as the most important wine-growing regions of Australia. A quality feature is maintained despite the sometimes long transport of the grapes: All grapes are processed within 12 hours after their harvest.

Wines from yellow tail can be quickly recognized by the kangaroo depicted on the label. A marketing idea that spread quickly. With yellow tail, the global trend of brand wines with an animal on the label began.

- Durif
- Merlot
