More information about Aufwind Cuvée Rot - Thomas Hensel

With the Thomas Hensel Aufwind Cuvée Red comes a first-class red wine in the glass. In this it offers a wonderfully bright, purple color. The nose of this Thomas Hensel red wine shows all sorts of morello cherries, plums, prunes and black cherries. As if that wasn't already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds other aromas such as vanilla, brown bread and smoked meat.

On the tongue, this well-balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to its lively fruit acidity, the Aufwind Cuvée Rot presents itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this red wine from the wine-growing region of Palatinate, which has good aging potential, finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by clay and sand.

Vinification of the Aufwind Cuvée Red by Thomas Hensel

Cabernet Sauvignon and Saint Laurent grapes form the basis for Thomas Hensel's first-class and wonderfully balanced Aufwind Cuvée Rot. In the Palatinate, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay, sand and marl. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Aufwind Cuvée Rot are harvested exclusively by hand, without the help of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully milled. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Aufwind Cuvée Red is aged for several months in oak barrels.
