More information about Bechtheimer Grauburgunder trocken - Dr. Koehler
In the glass, the Bechtheimer Grauburgunder from Dr. Koehler offers a bright copper-gold color. This single-varietal German wine reveals wonderfully fragrant notes of star fruit, quince, pears and apples in the glass. These are joined by hints of garrigue, lovage and juniper.
On the palate, Dr. Koehler's Bechtheimer Pinot Gris opens delightfully dry, grippy and aromatic. There is dry and really dry. This white wine belongs to the latter group, as it was vinified with only 2 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this balanced white wine is wonderfully light and crisp. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Bechtheimer Pinot Gris flatters the palate with a pleasing feel, without lacking juicy liveliness. In the finish, this white wine from the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen finally inspires with good length. There are again hints of guava and quince. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and brown earth are added.
Vinification of the Bechtheimer Pinot Gris from Dr. Koehler
This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Pinot Gris. Only the best grape material was harvested for this exceptionally balanced varietal wine from Dr. Koehler. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Rheinhessen. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand, silicate rock, loess soil, sandstone, marl and brown earth. When perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes for Bechtheimer Pinot Gris are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of crude and less selective machinery. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by maturation .
