History and Development

Foundation and Early Years

The winery was founded in 1921 by Jean Bernard, who chose the name Bernard-Massard in honor of his surname and that of his wife, Anne Massard. Jean Bernard had previously worked as a cellar master in the Champagne region and brought his acquired know-how to Luxembourg. The company began its activities on the banks of the Moselle and successfully exported its wines to Belgium as early as 1923.

Challenges and Growth

Over the years, the winery has overcome various challenges, including the impacts of World War II and the steel crisis of the 1970s. Despite these difficulties, Bernard Massard has always driven innovation and expanded its product range.
