More information about Chardonnay - Leo Hillinger
The Chardonnay of Leo Hillinger from Burgenland offers a brilliant golden yellow color in the wine glass. To the nose, this Leo Hillinger white wine reveals all sorts of nashi pear, pears, quince and apples. As if that wasn't already impressive, the stainless steel aging adds walnut, toasted almond and roasted hazelnut.
The Leo Hillinger Chardonnay delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As one might naturally expect from a wine in the upper price range, this Austrian naturally enraptures with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need a lot of sugar. Light-footed and multi-layered, this meltingly dense white wine presents itself on the palate. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Burgenland finally thrills with considerable length. Once again, hints of apple and nashi pear appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soil dominated by volcanic rock and black earth join in.
Vinification of the Leo Hillinger Chardonnay
This elegant white wine from Austria is produced organically from the Chardonnay grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Burgenland. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of loess, volcanic rock and black earth. When perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for Chardonnay are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machinery. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Chardonnay can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months....
