More information about Club Batonnage - Club Battonage

The Club Batonnage from the pen of Club Batonnage from Burgenland offers a dense, purplish-red color in a tilted glass. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and richness, which is visible in the stained-glass window effect at the rim of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Burgenland tempts with hints of blackberry and blackberry jelly. Continuing to explore the aromatics, notes of cocoa and toasted wood emerge, promoted by the influence of oak wood.

This Austrian wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with an exceptionally low residual sugar content. This is a genuine quality wine, clearly distinguished from more simplistic qualities, and thus naturally delights with a fine balance despite its dryness. Tasting shows that a lot of residual sugar is not necessarily required. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine presents itself wonderfully dense. The finish of this highly age-worthy red wine from the wine region of Burgenland, specifically from Lake Neusiedl, is distinguished by an extraordinary aftertaste.

Vinification of the Club Batonnage

This powerful Austrian red wine is vinified from the grape varieties Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The Club Batonnage is a classic Old World wine through and through, as this Austrian exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly emphasizes the success of wines from the Old World. A very high influence on the maturity of the grape harvest is also due to the fact that Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot vines thrive under a relatively cool climate. This is reflected, among other things, in especially long and uniform grape ripening and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Club Batonnage are harvested exclusively by hand, without the help of strenuous and less selective grape harvesters. After manual harvest, the grapes are quickly transferred to the winery. There, they are sorted and gently crushed. The fermentation then takes place in large wooden vessels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the powerful Club Batonnage is matured for several months in barrels made of French oak.

Food Pairing Recommendations for Club Batonnage

This Austrian red wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to Boeuf Bourguignon, lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs, or sautéed calf's liver with apples, onions, and balsamic sauce.
