AAA Dominio de Valdepusa DO - Marques de Grinon

The AAA Dominio de Valdepusa by Marques de Grinon is an outstanding, limited top-quality red wine made from the grape varieties Graciano and Petit Verdot. The name of this red wine is derived from the daughters of Carlos Falcó. All three daughters – Alejandra, Tamara, Aldara – each have their own unique personality that the winemaker aims to express in this wine. Additionally, each daughter’s name contains the letter 'A' three times.

In the glass, it displays an intense black-blue color with violet reflections. The rich bouquet is characterized by lush aromas of fresh mint and red roses. Notes of black fruits—especially plum and raspberry—along with exotic spices, complete the aroma profile. On the palate, this excellent, well-structured red wine impresses with a meaty texture wrapped in silky tannins. The finish of this Spanish wine offers an impressive length and precision.

Vinification of the Marques de Grinon AAA

The grapes for this limited wine come from 14-year-old vines in the Spanish cultivation region D.O. Dominio de Valdepusa. The vines grow on limestone- and clay-rich soils on a flat terrain (high plateau).

The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and strictly selected in the vineyard. In the cellar, a second selection is performed, and the grapes are gently pressed. The resulting must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. After the fermentation process is complete, this red wine matures for 30 months in new French oak barrels.

Food pairing recommendations for the AAA Dominio de Valdepusa Marques de Grinon

This dry Spanish red wine is an excellent soloist and should be decanted early. It is also a pleasure when paired with game dishes in dark sauces.
