Merlot trocken - Kirchner

The Merlot from the pen of Kirchner from the Palatinate shows a dense, purple color in the glass. The nose of this Kirchner red wine shows all sorts of mulberries, blueberries, black currants and blackberries. As if that wasn't already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds other aromas such as oak, smoked meat and beech smoke.

On the palate, Kirchner's Merlot starts out wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. Some wines are dry, others bone dry. This red belongs to the latter group, as it was vinified with only 1.9 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this punchy red wine is wonderfully dense. Due to its concise fruit acid, the Merlot is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The final of this red wine from the wine-growing region of the Palatinate finally thrilled with considerable reverberation.

Vinification of the Kirchner Merlot

This powerful red wine from Germany is vinified from the grape variety Merlot. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Merlot are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Merlot is aged for several months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for Kirchner Merlot

This German wine is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to braised chicken in red wine, vegetable couscous with beef meatballs or lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs.
