Gamla Merlot - Golan Heights Winery

Golan Heights Winery's Gamla Merlot is a fruit-driven, smooth and varietal Merlot from the Golan / Galilee wine region. 

This wine shows a bright ruby red color with purple highlights in the glass. The sweet aromas of ripe, juicy wild berries give this red wine a particularly exclusive fragrance. This is joined by notes of freshly grated orange peel, sage and black tea. On the palate, this red wine presents itself with a  lush and juicy body supported by fine tannins. The finish has an appealing length. 

Vinification of the Golan Heights Winery Gamla Merlot

Galilee is the northernmost region of Israeli settlements. The highest quality is found in the Golan Heights appellation. The vineyards on the volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters above sea level to 1,200 meters.

The grapes for this single-varietal Merlot are harvested by hand from the central and northern Golan Heights. Here, the soil is largely volcanic. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, this red wine rests in French oak barrels for 12 months.

We recommend this dry red wine from the Golan Heights for cozy barbecues with family and friends. But this wine is also a delight with braised lamb or polenta bruschetta with tapenade.
