More information about Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Sophia - Craggy Range

The Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Syrah from Craggy Range is a fascinating red wine cuvée of Merlot (62%), Cabernet Sauvignon (19%), Cabernet Franc (18%) and Petit Verdot (1%) and presents itself in the glass in a dark garnet red.

The expressive bouquet is tuned by notes of blackberries, cassis and cocoa - underpinned by woody hints. On the palate, this red wine is lush without being overbearing and has a body with sweet fruit and caramelized nuances. The fine tannins are perfectly woven into the dense texture. The excellent length on the finish rounds out this New Zealand wine unforgettably.

Vinification of the Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Sophia Craggy Range

The different grape varieties all come from the Hawke's Bay growing region.

The grapes are harvested and selected with great care. In the winery, the grapes are pressed and the must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by 18 months of aging in French oak barriques.

Recommended food for the Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Road Vineyards Sophia
