In the glass, the Grüner Veltliner Old Vines from Carnuntum of Winery Markowitsch shows a dense platinum yellow color. There are again hints of pink grapefruit and kumquat. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by gravel and loess are added.

Vinification of the Winery Markowitsch Grüner Veltliner Old Vines from Carnuntum

The powerful Grüner Veltliner Old Vines from Carnuntum in Austria is a single-varietal wine, vinified from the grape variety Grüner Veltliner. The grapes grow in optimal conditions in Lower Austria. Here the vines dig their roots deep into soils of loess and gravel. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Grüner Veltliner Old Vines from Carnuntum are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.

Food recommendation for the Grüner Veltliner Old Vines from Carnuntum by Weingut Markowitsch

Drink this white wine from Austria best moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C as an accompaniment to veal and onion casserole, vegetable stew with pesto or vegetable salad with beetroot.
