Vinification of the Cantina Terlan Quarz Sauvignon Alto Adige Terlaner
This powerful white wine from Italy is made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. The Quarz Sauvignon Alto Adige Terlaner is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Sauvignon Blanc grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly long and even grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Quarz Sauvignon Alto Adige Terlaner are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by 9 months of ageing in 900-litre oak tonneaux.
