More information about Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs - Weingut A. Christmann

With the Weingut A. Christmann Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs, a first-class organic red wine finds its way into the swirling glass. In it, it presents a wonderfully bright, light red color. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not appear watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. This varietal German wine shows wonderfully expressive notes of blackberries and plums in the glass. There are also hints of pepper.

The Weingut A. Christmann Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs presents itself to the wine enthusiast as delightfully dry. This red wine never appears rough or lean, as one might expect from a wine in the icon-wine segment. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully dense. The finish of this red wine, which has good aging potential and comes from the wine-growing region of the Pfalz, more precisely from Königsbach, finally impresses with a remarkable length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral nuances from the sandstone- and limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of Weingut A. Christmann Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs

This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). For this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Weingut A. Christmann, only the best grape material was used. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Pfalz. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into soils of limestone, sandstone, and marl. Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of rough and less selective machines. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the organically produced Königsbacher Ölberg Spätburgunder Erstes Gewächs is aged for a few more months in oak barriques.
