Porcupine Ridge Syrah - Boekenhoutskloof

The Porcupine Ridge Syrah from Boekenhoutskloof is a varietally pure, balanced and concentrated red wine from South Africa's Swartland wine region. 

In the glass, this wine shimmers a vibrant purple with purple highlights. The nose delights in a varietal bouquet that reveals full aromas of dark fruit - especially blackberry, black cherry and plum - floral notes of violet and spice. On the palate, the dark berry fruit continues and is complemented by hints of black pepper, clove and sweet tobacco. The grippy tannins are accompanied by well-integrated acidity, giving this South African wine a balanced, concentrated texture with an elegantly juicy body. The pleasantly long finish rounds out this red wine perfectly. 

Vinification of the Porcupine Ridge Syrah

The grapes of the Syrah Porcupine Ridge come from Swartland. The vines are known for their small berries and high quality. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the winery in small boxes, where they are gently processed. This red wine is aged in used French oak barrels. This ensures that the fine and full-fruited fruit aromas of the Syrah are not overpowered by the aromas of new oak.
