More information about Reserva Branco Alentejo DOC - Esporão

In the glass, Reserva Branco Alentejo DOC - Esporão shines in radiant straw yellow with subtle golden reflections. On the nose it unfolds a multi-layered bouquet of ripe mango, fresh lemon and fine vanilla, underpinned by a delicate yeasty note. On the palate, the wine is juicy, creamy and at the same time animating, with an elegant structure, lively acidity and a silkily integrated melt. The tannins from the wood are fine and restrained, giving the wine contour without masking its freshness.

The cuvée of Antão Vaz, Arinto and Siria (Roupeiro) comes from the Alentejo, one of Portugal’s most exciting regions. Antão Vaz contributes richness, exotic fruit and density, Arinto brings firm acidity and precise citrus freshness, while Siria (Roupeiro) provides floral nuances and additional elegance. Together they create a characterful white wine that shows great expressiveness both aromatically and structurally.

Production of Reserva Branco Alentejo DOC – Esporão

The grapes for Reserva Branco Alentejo DOC - Esporão grow in the heart of the Alentejo DOC on soils of granite, clay and slate. This mosaic of subsoils gives the wine complexity and aromatic depth. Granite promotes clarity and tension, clay provides volume and density, while slate contributes a fine mineral vein. The warm, dry climate of Alentejo bathes the grapes in abundant sunshine, while cool nights ensure aromatic freshness and clear structure.

The harvest is carried out by careful hand-picking, bunch by bunch. Only perfectly ripe fruit makes it to the cellar, selected directly in the vineyard and then on sorting tables. This creates a precise foundation for a characterful premium white wine with a clear sense of origin.

In the cellar, Esporão relies on a considered mix of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship. Part of the must ferments in stainless steel tanks, where freshness, varietal character and clear fruit take center stage. Another part matures in 225-liter barriques, some of them new oak. These barrels give the wine additional depth, subtle toasted aromas, vanilla notes and a creamy texture. Fermentation and maturation on the lees (sur lie) provide more volume, complexity and fine yeast aromas that make the wine seem almost weightless.

Esporão pursues a style that places authenticity and elegance at the forefront. The estate’s signature is evident in the harmonious interplay of fruit, structure and wood. Every step, from hand-picking and gentle pressing to the finely tuned maturation, serves the goal of creating a characterful, profound white wine with a long finish.

Serving recommendations for Reserva Branco Alentejo DOC – Esporão

Reserva Branco Alentejo DOC - Esporão pairs excellently with a wide range of aromatic dishes. Its exotic fruit, creamy texture and lively acidity make an ideal complement to sophisticated cuisine.

  • Grilled fish with lemon butter and fresh herbs
  • Seafood such as prawns, scallops or cuttlefish
  • Poultry dishes, for example corn-fed chicken with Mediterranean herbs
  • Creamy risottos with lemon, asparagus or seafood
  • Mild to medium-mature cheeses, especially from sheep’s and goat’s milk

This wine is an ideal companion for elegant dinner evenings, festive occasions and special moments for two. It also impresses as a sophisticated aperitif thanks to its balance of freshness and depth. On the terrace on a warm evening, it unfolds its full aromatic radiance.

The ideal serving temperature is between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the wine shows its exotic fruit, fine vanilla notes and lively structure with particular precision. A brief period of aeration in the glass before the first sip enhances the aromatic diversity and opens up the wine even further.

This white wine is also excellently suited for a few years of cellaring. The combination of structure, oak maturation and acidity gives it stability and development potential. With cool, constant temperature and protected storage, the wine reveals more honey nuances, nutty tones and complex mature aromas over time, without losing its freshness. In this way, it becomes a characterful companion that leaves a deep impression both young and with some age.
