More information about Reserva Rioja DOCa - Bodegas Muga

With the Bodegas Muga Reserva Rioja comes a first-class red wine in the swirled glass. In this it presents a wonderfully dense, crimson color. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of Reserva Rioja shows of plums, damsons and blueberries. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as toasted barrique, oak and cigar box.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 1.7 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine, which clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so this Spaniard enchants naturally with all dryness with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. On the tongue, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly silky, dense and fleshy texture. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Reserva Rioja flatters with a pleasing palate without lacking freshness. The finish of this red wine with good aging potential from the wine-growing region of La Rioja, more precisely from the Rioja DOCa, finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Bodegas Muga Reserva Rioja

The powerful Reserva Rioja from Spain is a cuvée, pressed from the grape varieties Carignan, Garnacha, Graciano and Tempranillo. In La Rioja, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone. Obviously, Reserva Rioja is also determined by climatic and stylistic factors of Rioja DOCa. This Spaniard can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, presenting itself in an extraordinarily impressive way. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Reserva Rioja are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Reserva Rioja is aged for another 24 months in French and American oak barrels.
