More information

The Descendant by Torbreck is an outstanding red wine cuvée made from Shiraz (92%) and Viognier (8%). Translated, the name means "descendant".
Because this red wine is the legacy of the Torbreck RunRig red wine - the vineyard is planted with cuttings of the old RunRig and this wine is aged in barrels that were previously used for the RunRig.

In the glass, the Torbreck Descendant presents itself in a deep dark ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet unfolds intense aromas of ripe blackberries, accompanied by roasted nuances. This is accompanied by floral notes of violet and lavender. On the palate, this Australian red wine presents itself with an elegant and strong character, which is borne by berry aromas. The silky, ripe texture is accompanied by a balanced tanning structure in the long-lasting reverberation.

Vinification of Torbreck The Descendant

The vines for this red wine are located on the vineyard in Marananga.

After harvesting the Shiraz and Viognier grapes, they are selected and destemmed in the wine cellar. Both grape varieties are then fermented together in a stainless steel tank. The subsequent ageing takes place for a total of 20 months in French oak barriques.

Food recommendation for Descendant Shiraz Viognier von Torbreck

This dry red wine from Australia is the perfect accompaniment to spicy goulash with Bohemian dumplings and blueberry, lamb from the oven with beans or veal liver with steamed onions.
