The Westhofener Chardonnay from Dreissigacker in Rheinhessen presents a bright, golden-yellow color in the wine glass. When swirling the glass, this white wine reveals a perfect balance, as it does not appear watery, syrupy, or liqueur-like on the glass walls. On the nose, this Dreissigacker white wine opens up with all kinds of pineapple, vineyard peach, nectarine, mirabelle plum, and apricot. As if that weren’t already impressive, maturation in small wooden barrels adds Mediterranean herbs, cinnamon, and cream toffee.

The Westhofener Chardonnay comes very close to this, having been vinified with just 0.8 grams of residual sugar. Balanced and complex, this dense white wine presents itself on the palate. Vinification of Dreissigacker Westhofener Chardonnay
This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Chardonnay. For this wonderfully balanced varietal wine from Dreissigacker, only immaculate grape material was harvested. The Westhofener Chardonnay is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks, small wooden barrels, and large wooden casks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by 8 months of maturation in oak barriques.
