More information about Widder Weissburgunder - Weingut Hörner

The barrel-aged Widder Weissburgunder from the wine-growing region of the Palatinate presents itself in the glass in a radiant light yellow. On the nose, this white wine from Weingut Hörner offers all kinds of mirabelles and orange marmalade. As if that were not already impressive, further aromas such as papaya, coconut and walnut are added through aging in small wooden barrels.

This white wine from Weingut Hörner is perfect for wine lovers who would prefer 0.0 grams of residual sugar in their wine. Widder Weissburgunder comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 1.4 grams of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced white wine is wonderfully mellow and creamy. Thanks to its lively acidity, Widder Weissburgunder appears impressively fresh and vibrant on the palate. The finish of this well-ageable white wine from the Palatinate wine-growing region, more precisely from Hochstadt, ultimately impresses with an exceptional length. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral facets from the loess and clay dominated soils.

Vinification of Widder Weissburgunder from Weingut Hörner

The balanced Widder Weissburgunder from Germany is a varietal wine, vegan, made from the Pinot Blanc grape. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Palatinate. Here the vines drive their roots deep into soils of clay and loess. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Widder Weissburgunder are harvested exclusively by hand, without the help of strenuous and hardly selective mechanical harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the press house without delay. There they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures follows. After fermentation is complete, the vegan Widder Weissburgunder is aged for several months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for Widder Weissburgunder from Weingut Hörner

Enjoy this vegan white wine from Germany best moderately chilled at 11–13°C as an accompaniment to cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables, leek soup or stuffed cabbage rolls.
