Yarden Merlot - Golan Heights Winery

The Yarden Merlot from Golan Heights Winery from the wine-growing region of Golan / Galilee is a varietal, full-bodied and expressive red wine.

This wine shows a bright ruby red color in the glass. The nose presents aromas of ripe dark fruit - blackberry, black cherry and black currant in particular come to the fore - herbs of Provence, bay leaves and green olives. On the palate, this red wine reveals itself lush and full-bodied and, despite its power and density, elegant and balanced. The wood nuances are perfectly integrated into the body and echo pleasantly through the long finish.

Yarden is the leading brand of Golan Heights Winery under which the annual flagship wines from the best grapes of the best sites are marketed. Yarden, moreover, is the Hebrew name for the Jordan River, which separates the Golan Heights and Galilee. The label depicts a symbol from ancient Israel - an oil lamp decorated with mosaic tiles.

Vinification of the Golan Heights Winery Yarden Merlot

The grapes grow from both the central and northern Golan Heights. 

Classically, the grapes are gently pressed in the winery and then the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation is complete, this wine is aged for 18 months in small French oak barrels - 40% of which are new wood.
